oRGANIC rEADING
Sylvia Ashton-Warner created an experience-centered approach to reading called Organic Reading. It is designed to provide a bridge from the known to the unknown, where student's can move from their own experiences, to sharing a written experience of others.
Organic Reading bases states that learning experiences should begin with “intrinsic” ideas rather than with “extrinsic”. In other words, students should relate to their own innermost thoughts before relating to the thoughts of others. Ashton-Warner believed that student’s initial exposure to reading should have a natural, instinctive reaction to reading. This method can be used for any student from all grade levels. Its purpose is as a beginning reading method with children from divergent cultures.
Organic Reading consist of an organic teaching program that involves "input" and "output" periods.

Organic Reading Covers 4 Movements
First: Focuses on reading into the child's "inner mind" to discover the child's key vocabulary which is probed during an output period. Each student's key vocabulary reflects the student's inner self.
Second: The student has acquired a sizable key vocabulary and suggest words from "outside" rather than "inside". In this movement, the use of two words replaces the use of single words (happy days).
Third & Forth: The student continues to progress with an ever changing vocabulary list. Students begin to write his or her own small stories with teacher assistance to writing small stories without teacher assistance to writing rather sophisticated stories.
Video: Mentions her belief of a child's power.
